Common Questions
What is 1-2-1 mentoring?
You will be assigned a dedicated mentor to help you refine your personal statement and ensure it aligns perfectly with your unique academic and personal narrative. Each session will be conducted on a one-to-one basis, meaning only yourself and your personal mentor will be present (no large groups with other students).
How does proofreading work?
Under our standard proofreading service, we will review your spelling, punctuation and grammar only. Comments and corrections will be sent to you via email.
What happens in the video consultations?
The type of video consultation you have will depend on the package you choose. Our "pre-draft consultations" (or "strategy sessions") happen before you have sent us your first personal statement draft and involve 1-2-1 consultation with your mentor in order to brainstorm ideas and help guide you on what you should think about including within your first draft. The "post-draft mentoring sessions" happen after we have reviewed your draft and are an opportunity to discuss feedback and next steps verbally with your mentor.
What is the expected turn around time for feedback?
Your mentor will review your draft and provide written feedback via email within 5 days of receiving your personal statement. Suggested corrections and comments will be annotated directly inside the Word document. If your package includes video feedback, we will invite you to schedule in a session which would be dependant on your availability and your mentor's availability. Written feedback will be guaranteed prior to the scheduled consultation.
How long does mentoring take?
Our sessions are organised into 30-minute blocks. This allows sufficient time for targeted feedback and critique – your mentor will already have some pointers to talk about during the session. While 30-minute blocks allow for focused feedback, they also leave you with more time to concentrate on the important part... your writing!
What is the difference between the regular bundles and the specialist bundles?
Due to the highly competitive and specialised nature of certain courses and university applications, our specialist bundles offer additional opportunities for verbal consultation and feedback on your personal statement drafts so you can stand out from the crowd.
